My initials are U.S.A.

First I just want to comment that my usual little post-voting high was squelched this morning by every douchebag and his brother strutting down Broadway in their Giants’ jerseys like they all played in the damn game. You threw that interception in your high school championships and you’ve never gotten over it, which is fine, but stay off my sidewalk, I’m in mourning.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that as soon as possible, you should rent “The King of Kong: A Fistfull of Quarters.” It’s a documentary about this guy, a Florida hot sauce baron and total wanker who set the Donkey Kong high score world record in 1982 (but that link is a current picture, for reals), and this guy, an affable, down-on-his-luck father of two who beat it 25 years later and was subsequently undermined by the first guy’s smarmy and childish subterfuge. It is a perfectly delightful tale of good versus evil versus classic-video-game high geekdom, allowing for the fact that heavy editing is involved. But still, it’s damn convincing. For example, the title of this post is a direct quote from Mr. Hot Sauce.

  1. I’m in mourning too, EV. And every GD newsprogram won’t stop playing the highlights as I sit there and think, “We get it. Eli won. Peyton’s happy for his bro. No one saw this coming. Now get off it and let us grieve.”

  2. p.s. Sore loser? who, me? :)

  3. Tell me about it–at least you don’t live in New York! They’re covering the parade more than the friggin primaries.

Everything he says is controversial. It’s like the abortion issue.
